Saudi Arabia Launches New Truck Access System To Improve Logistics In Eastern Region
The Transport General Authority (TGA), in partnership with other authorities, has introduced a new system for truck access in the Eastern Region. This system, effective from Sunday, February 16, represents the third phase of the central city entry program across Saudi Arabia. It allows trucks to enter during restricted hours by booking electronic appointments, except for those already permitted during these times.
This initiative is designed to improve logistics efficiency and manage truck flow better. By doing so, it aims to reduce congestion at city entrances and enhance transportation services' overall quality and efficiency. The ultimate goal is to strengthen Saudi Arabia's position as a global logistics hub.

The new system will help freight transporters navigate more effectively during peak hours and restricted periods. This change is expected to alleviate traffic congestion on major roads in the Eastern Region. As a result, truck drivers should experience significantly reduced wait times, improving operational processes for companies involved in freight transport.
Moreover, this initiative aims to lower costs and boost the quality of logistics operations. By providing essential reports and data analysis, it supports decision-making and sector development. This contributes to economic growth while minimizing financial losses for transporters.
The TGA highlighted that the truck entry appointment service will enhance integration and management of truck movements within Saudi Arabia. By using data and analytics, it seeks to improve freight transport operations further. Transporters can access this service through the LOGISTI platform (logisti.sa), which offers various electronic services to facilitate transportation activities efficiently.
This new service is expected to ease the burden on companies and private sector entities involved in freight transport. By streamlining processes, it aims to make logistics operations more cost-effective and efficient.
Overall, this initiative by the TGA marks a significant step towards optimizing logistics in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Region. It not only improves current operations but also lays a foundation for future developments in the sector.
