Saudi Arabia Implements 50% Reduction On Accumulated Traffic Fines

The General Department of Traffic in Saudi Arabia has recently announced a significant initiative aimed at reducing the financial burden on individuals with accumulated traffic fines. This initiative, effective from April 18, offers a 50% reduction on fines for a wide range of traffic violations, provided these were committed before a specified date. This opportunity is extended to citizens, residents, visitors, and citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, showcasing the department's commitment to easing the financial strains on violators while also encouraging the settlement of outstanding dues.

To avail of this substantial discount, individuals are required to clear their pending traffic fines within a six-month period starting from April 18. Payments can be securely made through the SADAD payment system or the National Violations Platform (Efaa), ensuring a straightforward process for all. The authorities have issued a warning against falling prey to fraudulent schemes by ignoring any unauthorized links, phone calls, or websites claiming to offer alternative payment methods.

50% Off Saudi Traffic Fines

However, it's crucial to note that not all violations are eligible for this 50% reduction. Any violations committed after the initiative's start date, particularly those involving reckless driving behaviors such as drifting, driving under the influence of substances, or exceeding speed limits by more than 50 km/h on roads with a speed limit of 120 km/h or less, and by more than 30 km/h on roads with a speed limit of 140 km/h, will disqualify individuals from benefiting from this offer. Instead, for these post-initiative violations, Article 75 of the Traffic Law will be applicable, providing a standard 25% reduction in fines within the legal timeframe.

This initiative not only aims at reducing the financial load on violators but also serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic laws to ensure safety on the roads. By offering this incentive, the General Department of Traffic underscores its dedication to promoting responsible driving behaviors among all road users in Saudi Arabia.
