Saudi Leadership Directs 50% Reduction In Traffic Fines Before April 2024

In a significant move aimed at easing the financial burden on citizens and residents, the Ministry of Interior (MOI) of Saudi Arabia has announced a substantial reduction in traffic fines. This initiative, directed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom, offers a 50% exemption on the value of traffic fines issued before April 18, 2024. This decision was made in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and the Saudi Data & AI Authority (SDAIA).

The MOI has outlined specific criteria for violators to benefit from this reduction. To avail of the 50% exemption, violators must settle all accumulated traffic fines within six months from the start date of this initiative. Payment can be made in full for all fines or individually for each violation. Additionally, beneficiaries must avoid committing any violations that jeopardize public safety during this period.

50% Off Saudi Traffic Fines

Furthermore, the MOI highlighted that any traffic violations occurring after the implementation of this fine reduction would be processed under Article (75) of the Traffic Law. This article stipulates a 25% reduction for one violation, coupled with potential imprisonment and enforcement actions if fines are not paid following the objection period and legally defined payment deadline.

The ministry has issued a call to all road users to comply with traffic regulations to ensure safety on the roads and prevent future violations. This initiative not only aims to reduce financial stress on individuals but also encourages adherence to traffic laws to enhance overall road safety in the Kingdom.

The announcement was made through the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) at 23:09 local time (20:09 GMT), marking a pivotal moment in Saudi Arabia's approach to traffic violation penalties.
