Saudi Arabia Achieves Top Regional Ranking In UN E-Government Development Index 2024
Saudi Arabia has made significant strides in digital governance, climbing 25 spots in the UN E-Government Development Index 2024. The Kingdom now ranks first regionally, second among G20 nations, and sixth globally out of 193 countries. This achievement was highlighted at the LEAP25 conference, showcasing Saudi Arabia's swift digital transformation across government sectors.
The UN report praised Saudi Arabia for embracing advanced technologies like AI and blockchain. Notable initiatives include the world's first zero-carbon 5G network in the Red Sea and the "Sehhaty" app, which serves over 30 million users. Other efforts involve a generative AI accelerator, global cloud computing partnerships, and smart city projects using AI for municipal services.

Riyadh has also excelled in digital governance, ranking third globally and first regionally and among G20 countries in the E-Government Development Index 2024. The city's smart city initiatives feature AI-powered cameras and technology-driven urban landscape improvements. These efforts have been instrumental in Riyadh's high ranking.
The Digital Government Authority is pivotal in this transformation by setting national performance indicators and implementing programs to enhance the digital environment. This enables government agencies to provide outstanding digital services, contributing to the Kingdom's progress.
