Saudi Arabia Enhances Its Global Position As A Key Mining Hub At Future Minerals Forum
The Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh commenced with the fourth annual meeting of mining ministers. Several countries signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and cooperation agreements to bolster international partnerships in the mining sector. This initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, aiming to enhance international relations and develop the Kingdom's vital mining sector, which is progressing significantly.
The forum underscores the importance of these agreements in boosting competitiveness in strategic mineral production. It also seeks to expand collaboration areas within the industry, ensuring its sustainability for future generations. The event aims to support cooperation among mineral-producing nations, maximising the potential of a vast mining region from Africa to West and Central Asia.

Vice Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Eng. Khalid Al-Mudaifer shared with the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that new discoveries will be announced on Wednesday. These include various types of minerals, reflecting the sector's development in Saudi Arabia. "The discoveries reflect the development of the sector in the Kingdom and strengthen its position as a global hub for sustainable mining," he stated.
Eng. Al-Mudaifer highlighted the need to continue enhancing human capabilities and employing technology within the sector. This aligns with national goals to achieve sustainable development. The forum hosts representatives from nearly 90 countries, including 16 Group of Twenty (G20) nations and 50 international and non-governmental organisations.
The event gathers global mining leaders to focus on advancing the industry, supporting sustainable economies, and achieving energy transition goals. Running until January 16, it is expected to foster international cooperation and result in key agreements that enhance Saudi Arabia’s position as a global mining hub.
The forum aims to maximise collaboration among mineral-producing countries, highlighting its role in supporting sustainable economic growth. By focusing on strategic minerals, it seeks to ensure long-term industry sustainability while aligning with broader energy transition objectives.
This gathering marks a significant step towards strengthening international partnerships within the mining sector under Saudi Vision 2030. It reflects ongoing efforts to develop this crucial industry while positioning Saudi Arabia as a leader in sustainable mining practices globally.
