Saudi Arabia's Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah Speaks On Humanitarian Efforts For Sudan At UNGA 79
Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Royal Court Advisor and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), attended a meeting on Sudan's humanitarian crisis. This gathering took place during the high-level week of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.
In his address, Dr. Al Rabeeah highlighted Saudi Arabia's commitment to aiding Sudan amidst its challenges. He stated, "Recognizing the duty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia towards Sudan, intensive efforts have been exerted since the beginning of the humanitarian crisis to restore hope to the people."

The Jeddah Declaration was a significant initiative aimed at protecting civilians and delivering urgent aid. The Aligned for Advancing Lifesaving and Peace in Sudan (ALPS) Group has also provided crucial assistance to thousands in Darfur. However, escalating violence has forced millions from their homes.
Dr. Al Rabeeah mentioned that Saudi Arabia has contributed over $3 billion to Sudan, including $132 million in humanitarian aid across various regions and sectors. Before April 2023, KSrelief focused on sustainable interventions, but conflict-induced conditions shifted priorities to immediate assistance.
KSrelief has intensified its efforts in Sudan with more than 70 projects since April 2023, costing over $73 million. These initiatives are conducted in partnership with UN organizations and other humanitarian groups to address urgent needs effectively.
The KSrelief chief emphasized ongoing air and sea missions funded by government and public support as part of the National Aid Campaign for Sudan. Despite these efforts, challenges remain, necessitating collective action for unrestricted aid access.
A Call for Collective Action
Dr. Al Rabeeah urged that addressing Sudan's crisis requires transcending political divisions: "As a humanitarian community, we must deal with the humanitarian crisis in Sudan away from political considerations." He stressed that unity is essential for ensuring equal opportunities for all Sudanese people.
He concluded by affirming Saudi Arabia's dedication to resolving the crisis and achieving stability for Sudan. The Kingdom continues its efforts to bring about security and peace for the nation and its citizens.
