Social Responsibility Drives Community Development In Saudi Arabia In 2025

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development reports that targets linked to Saudi Vision 2030 in social responsibility and community development were exceeded in 2025, as private sector social spending reached 4.18% and around 72% of major companies adopted organised social responsibility programmes.

These outcomes formed part of a wider effort to strengthen the community development ecosystem, expand structured volunteer work, support the cooperative sector, and raise overall quality of life across regions of the Kingdom, under a strategic vision to build a vibrant, sustainable society.

Social Responsibility Advances Saudi Community 2025

A national platform for social responsibility was launched to coordinate initiatives, while awards for corporate social responsibility and an International Forum for Social Responsibility encouraged companies and institutions to adopt clearer standards, share experiences, and align their programmes with national development priorities.

The ministry noted that these social responsibility initiatives reinforced cooperation between governmental, private, and non-profit bodies, helping integrate community development efforts and encouraging more systematic contributions from companies towards social programmes in different regions and sectors.

Growth in the cooperative sector continued in 2025, with 64 new cooperatives established across various regions, bringing the total number of cooperatives supervised by the ministry to 558, covering different fields of economic and social activity within the Kingdom.

Volunteer work also expanded, including organised programmes serving pilgrims during Hajj 1446 AH and professional youth volunteering schemes that benefited 5,000 young men and women in areas such as cybersecurity, professional translation, artificial intelligence, and entrepreneurship, providing practical experience and community service opportunities.

The ministry stated that strengthened partnerships and agreements with governmental, private, and non-profit organisations supported sustainable collaboration, empowered non-profit institutions, encouraged community initiatives, and promoted innovation and social responsibility, reflecting a continuing commitment to integrated community development and cooperative work in support of Vision 2030.
