Saudi Arabia Emerges As Snapchat's Most Important Global Market With 26 Million Active Users

Snapchat has announced the opening of its new office in the JAX District of Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. This strategic move highlights the Kingdom's rapid growth and technological advancements. The decision aligns with Vision 2030's aim to build a robust digital economy and empower young people. Snapchat's Communications Manager in Saudi Arabia, Yaser Alamoodi, emphasized the Kingdom's significance as a global market for the company.

Alamoodi shared that Saudi Arabia boasts over 26 million monthly active Snapchat users. Notably, 90% of Saudis aged 13 to 34 use the app frequently, often opening it more than 50 times daily. The new office is strategically located in Riyadh's creative hub to enhance collaborations with government and private sectors, offer specialized support to advertisers, and nurture local talent.

Saudi Arabia: Snapchat's Key Global Market

The company's commitment to developing local human capital is evident through initiatives like the "Snap creators council" and "Snap graduate development program." These programs aim to enhance skills in digital creativity, marketing, and augmented reality (AR). Alamoodi highlighted AR technology as central to Snapchat's strategy, noting that AR lenses achieve up to eight times higher engagement than other platforms in Saudi Arabia.

In recent years, the number of Saudi "Snap Stars" has doubled, and active advertisers have increased fourfold. This growth reflects rising confidence in Snapchat's role in digital entrepreneurship. The company is also working with local partners to create content that showcases Saudi identity and culture, supporting Vision 2030's quality of life and tourism initiatives.

Snapchat's strategy aligns with Vision 2030's pillars: empowering businesses for a thriving economy, fostering a vibrant society through AR, and investing in human capital for digital transformation. Looking ahead to 2025–2027, Snapchat plans to double the number of Saudis in specialized training programs. It also aims to expand AR technologies into education, tourism, and retail sectors while integrating AI solutions into its camera.

Alamoodi concluded by emphasizing that Saudi Arabia is not just an important market but a strategic partner in shaping the global digital future. This partnership underscores Snapchat's commitment to contributing significantly to the Kingdom's digital landscape.
