Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 Drives Transformation In Global Logistics Sector

The Saudi logistics sector is experiencing significant changes, driven by the Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services. This transformation aims to strengthen Saudi Arabia's role in global trade through advanced technologies and sustainable practices. Assistant Minister Ahmed AlHassan recently emphasised the Kingdom's strategic position as a trade link between Asia, Africa, and Europe.

Under Vision 2030 and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, Saudi Arabia is working to become a major global logistics hub. The Global Logistics Forum (GLF), hosted by the ministry in Riyadh from October 12 to 14, 2024, will bring together over 100 speakers and participants. These include industry leaders and government officials, highlighting the Kingdom's efforts to enhance connectivity.

The forum underscores Saudi Arabia's strategic initiatives to develop logistics centres that boost connectivity both within its borders and internationally. These efforts have significantly improved the country's standing in the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index, moving up 17 places. Additionally, Saudi ports have risen to 15th place globally for annual container handling.

Three Saudi ports were recognised in Lloyd's List One Hundred Ports 2024, reflecting the nation's growing influence in logistics. This recognition supports economic growth by enhancing infrastructure and global connectivity standards. The civil aviation sector also shows dynamism with Saudia Group's record purchase of 105 Airbus planes.

Investment in Saudi Arabia's logistics sector is rapidly increasing. In the second quarter of 2024 alone, there was a 76% rise in new business registrations, making it the fastest-growing sector in the Kingdom. This growth aligns with national goals to redefine global trade under sustainable leadership.

This year's Global Logistics Forum will attract over 10,000 participants from leading organisations worldwide. They will discuss key challenges such as sustainability, supply chain resilience, workforce development, and technology adoption through keynote speeches and dialogue sessions.

The agenda for the forum includes bilateral meetings aimed at fostering innovative visions for a sustainable future in logistics. These discussions are crucial as they address pressing issues facing the industry today while setting new standards for infrastructure development globally.
