Saudi Arabia Secures Vice Chair Role At Global Research Council For Second Term

The Governing Board of the Global Research Council has unanimously re-elected His Excellency Dr. Munir bin Mahmoud Eldesouki, the representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as Vice Chair of the Governing Board. This decision was made during the Council's 12th annual meeting held in Interlaken, Switzerland, in 2024.

This re-election marks the second consecutive term for Dr. Eldesouki since the Council's establishment in 2012. It underscores the Council’s confidence in Saudi Arabia's significant role in achieving its vision and future goals. The Kingdom's efforts in promoting research, development, and innovation at both regional and global levels have been recognised.

Saudi Retains Vice Chair in Research Council

Saudi Arabia's prominent role in enhancing joint regional work between research councils in the MENA region has strengthened its presence and contribution to global knowledge and innovation. The Kingdom participates as a member of the Global Research Council and chairs its periodic regional meetings for the MENA region.

The Global Research Council comprises heads of research councils and institutions that fund research and development activities globally. The Council also explores mechanisms to support scientific research institutions worldwide. It addresses issues related to supporting research and development activities and organises research councils and financing institutions aiming to build their capabilities according to international standards.
