Ai Safety Report 2026: Saudi Arabia Helps Shape International Governance And Safety Standards

Saudi Arabia, through the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), participates for the second year in preparing the "International AI Safety Report 2026." This continued role strengthens Saudi Arabia’s involvement in global efforts on AI safety and supports responsible innovation aimed at a secure and sustainable technological future worldwide.

The report stems from the AI Safety Summit held at Bletchley Park in 2023. It is designed to give a detailed scientific view of rapid advances in advanced AI systems, assess associated risks, and set out practical options to improve safety standards and international governance frameworks for these technologies.

Ai Safety Report 2026: Saudi Arabia Leads

Saudi Arabia’s participation in AI safety work links directly to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030. The vision seeks to position the Kingdom as a global centre for technological innovation while maintaining strict responsibility and technical security. This approach underlines support for sustainable development, community security and stronger global cooperation on AI.

The International AI Safety Report 2026 functions as a broad global reference on AI safety. It evaluates AI risks and related challenges and is regarded as a trusted scientific source. Policymakers, regulators and the research community use it to guide regulatory policies and to design governance frameworks for safe and responsible deployment of advanced technologies.

The International AI Safety Report 2026 is prepared by an international group of scientists and experts in AI safety and technology governance. Contributors include specialists from leading universities and research centres, alongside representatives from more than 30 countries and major organisations, such as the United Nations, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, and the European Union.

Among its messages on AI safety, the International AI Safety Report 2026 stresses the need to keep pace with fast-growing AI capabilities through advanced regulatory and scientific frameworks. It calls for investment in safety and technical compliance research so systems stay under effective human oversight and remain consistent with agreed safeguards.

The International AI Safety Report 2026 also highlights the value of international coordination to create shared standards for the safe and responsible use of advanced technologies. It notes the importance of considering economic and social impacts, aiming for fair distribution of AI benefits, reducing inequality, and confirming Saudi Arabia’s commitment to shaping a safer technological future.
