Saudi Arabia's Deputy Foreign Minister Addresses Global Coalition To Defeat ISIS Meeting In Washington
Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi, representing Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, attended the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS Ministerial Meeting in Washington. The meeting, led by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, marked the coalition's tenth anniversary and included representatives from 87 countries. Dr. Al-Rassi conveyed greetings from Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah and welcomed the Maldives as a new member.
Dr. Al-Rassi highlighted the importance of international collaboration in combating terrorism, stating that global crises and threats are escalating. He remarked, "The world is witnessing many unprecedented crises, risks, and challenges, including the rise of the scourge of terrorism, which poses a significant threat to international peace and security." This underscores the need for unified efforts against terrorism.

Saudi Arabia has consistently opposed extremism and terrorism in all forms. Dr. Al-Rassi emphasized the Kingdom's active role in ensuring security and combating terrorism on various levels through a comprehensive strategic plan. He pointed out Saudi Arabia's significant financial support to the coalition since it began, including a $30 million contribution in 2023.
The Kingdom has hosted key ministerial meetings in 2014 and 2023 and has taken leadership roles within the coalition's Financing Group and Focus Group on Africa. These efforts highlight Saudi Arabia's commitment to counterterrorism initiatives globally.
Dr. Al-Rassi expressed optimism that collaborative efforts would advance the coalition's mission to eliminate ISIS and other terrorist groups. He believes these actions will enhance global security and stability while paving the way for a safer future for upcoming generations.
The Saudi delegation at this meeting also included Major General Abdullah bin Saeed Al-Qahtani from the Presidency of State Security, reflecting Saudi Arabia's dedication to international security cooperation.
