Saudi Arabia's Historic Role In Supporting The Palestinian Cause Since King Abdulaziz's Era

Palestine's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mazen Ghunaim, emphasised the Kingdom's enduring commitment to the Palestinian cause. This support traces back to King Abdulaziz Al Saud's era, marking it as a primary concern for Arabs and Muslims. The ambassador expressed gratitude for Saudi Arabia's unwavering backing under King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

"The leadership and people of the State of Palestine express their deep appreciation and gratitude for the firm and consistent support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, toward the Palestinian cause," stated Ghunaim.

The ambassador highlighted Saudi Arabia's co-chairmanship with France at an upcoming high-level international conference. This event aims to address peaceful solutions for the Palestinian issue, focusing on implementing a two-state solution. It will take place at the United Nations headquarters in New York this week.

He also noted that Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah reaffirmed this commitment. The Kingdom has consistently supported efforts to end occupation and establish peace based on a two-state solution, envisioning an independent Palestinian state along 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The ambassador mentioned Saudi Arabia's support for the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution. This initiative was launched in September 2024 alongside Norway and the European Union. He described it as crucial for advancing international resolutions and alleviating Palestinian suffering.

Furthermore, he stressed that Saudi Arabia’s solidarity with Palestine today mirrors its historical stance. This steadfastness reflects true brotherhood, embodying noble values. The ambassador assured that Palestine remains committed to this generous support until achieving full freedom in an independent state.

"This support was reaffirmed in the announcement by Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah regarding the Kingdom’s co-chairmanship with the French Republic of the high-level international conference on resolving the Palestinian cause through peaceful solutions and implementing the two-state solution, to be held at the United Nations headquarters in New York this week," he added.
