The Ministry of Culture has launched the Salone del Mobile.Milano in Saudi Arabia for the first time. This event is taking place from November 26 to 28 at the King Abdullah Financial District in Riyadh. The Assistant Minister of Culture inaugurated the event on behalf of Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan, the Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Architecture and Design Commission.
The theme for this inaugural event is "Red in progress. Salone del Mobile.Milano meets Riyadh." It showcases prominent Italian design brands, renowned designers, and industry specialists. This marks a precursor to a full edition planned for Riyadh in 2026. Prince Nawaf bin Abdulaziz bin Ayyaf, Acting CEO of the Architecture and Design Commission, was present at the opening ceremony along with other dignitaries and experts.

Prince Nawaf bin Ayyaf highlighted that this prestigious furniture and design fair underscores Saudi Arabia's growing influence in global design. It serves as a crucial platform to enhance collaboration between Saudi and Italian designers. He noted that Saudi Arabia's architecture and design sector is expanding, creating more opportunities for businesses and creatives alike.
The president of Salone del Mobile.Milano emphasized that hosting this event in Riyadh is a strategic move reflecting Saudi Arabia’s increasing prominence in design. She stated that it offers a chance to strengthen ties between Italian and Saudi design communities, facilitating knowledge exchange and supporting joint projects that drive innovation.
This edition builds on a strategic partnership established in January between the Architecture and Design Commission and Salone del Mobile.Milano in AlUla. This agreement is part of efforts to enhance international partnerships, foster cooperation, and attract major cultural exhibitions to advance Saudi Arabia’s architecture and design sector.
The president further described Saudi Arabia as an essential partner in shaping global design's future. The collaboration aims to expand business opportunities while promoting innovation within both countries' design sectors.
Prince Nawaf bin Ayyaf also mentioned that international partnerships play a vital role in supporting the development of Saudi Arabia’s architecture and design sector. These collaborations help promote Saudi talent on a global scale.
This event not only highlights Saudi Arabia's commitment to developing its creative industries but also strengthens its position as a key player in the global design landscape.
