Saudi Arabia Introduces Comprehensive National Policy For Eliminating Forced Labor

Saudi Arabia has unveiled a National Policy for the Elimination of Forced Labor, reinforcing its commitment to a fair and safe work environment. The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development announced this initiative, which aligns with international standards to protect workers' rights. Minister Eng. Ahmed Al-Rajhi praised the Cabinet's approval, highlighting its importance in creating an appealing labor market.

The Kingdom is pioneering in the Arab world by introducing such a comprehensive policy. It was also the first Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member to ratify the UN International Labour Organization's (ILO) 2014 Protocol to the Forced Labor Convention. This move underscores Saudi Arabia's dedication to eradicating forced labor through preventive and protective measures.

The new policy emphasizes victim-focused initiatives, aiming to improve care, support, and access to justice for those affected by forced labor. It includes measures for legal, social, and economic assistance to aid victims' recovery and prevent re-victimization.
