Saudi Arabia Assumes Key Leadership Positions At ITU World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly
Saudi Arabia has taken on significant leadership roles at the ITU World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly (WTSA) in New Delhi, India. Representatives from Saudi Arabia have been appointed to key positions within the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T). These roles include chairs and vice-chairs of study groups and advisory teams focused on telecommunications standardization.
Eng. Abdullah AlMubadal, who serves as the deputy governor of the telecom sector at the Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST), was elected as vice-chair of WTSA-24. Meanwhile, Eng. Abdurahman Al Hassan, deputy governor for strategy and international cooperation at the National Cybersecurity Authority, was chosen as chair of the Telecommunication Standardization Advisory Group (TSAG).

Eng. Muath AlRumayh, general manager of international affairs at CST, has been appointed as vice chair of Committee 4. This committee is tasked with studying and standardizing digital technologies. Additionally, he will serve as vice chair for the study group focusing on IoT, smart cities, and communities.
Shahd AlBalawi, who directs international representation at CST, has been named vice chair of Committee 5. This committee is responsible for overseeing technical terms within telecommunications standardization efforts.
Eng. Abdulrahman AlMughamis holds the position of director of digital resource management at CST and has been appointed vice chair of a study group that focuses on operational aspects for service provision and communication management. Eng. Abdulrahman AlDhbiban, director of service quality development at CST, will serve as vice chair for a study group dedicated to performance and quality of service and experience.
Afnan AlRomi has been elected as vice chair for a study group concentrating on security matters within telecommunications. These appointments highlight Saudi Arabia's pivotal role in shaping global standards that drive innovation worldwide.

Saudi Arabia's involvement in these leadership roles underscores the international community's confidence in its contributions to ITU standardization activities through CST.
