Saudi Arabia To Host Groundbreaking Olympic Esports Games From 2025
The New Global Sport Conference (NGSC) commenced with a dialogue session titled "The Historic Transformation of Esports" on Saturday. The event saw participation from Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC), and Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Esports Federation (SEF).
During the session, Abdulaziz bin Ahmed Baeshen, Chief Executive Officer and Secretary General of SOPC, highlighted the Kingdom's hosting of the Olympic Esports Games starting next year. He noted that this move is a significant opportunity to blend the values and history of the Olympic movement with esports aspirations.

Baeshen emphasized that this announcement represents a historic milestone for Olympic sports' growth and development. He underscored the Kingdom's leading role in this field, aligning with the National Gaming and Esports Strategy launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in 2022.
The Olympic Esports Games offer a unique platform for esports players to represent their countries in 2025. This initiative aims to promote Olympic values to a new generation of players and audiences alike. The games will provide an exceptional opportunity for athletes to showcase their skills on an international stage.
In early January, the International Olympic Committee announced a 12-year partnership with SOPC to organize the Olympic Esports Games in the Kingdom starting in 2025. This long-term partnership will see additional editions of the tournament held in subsequent years.
Strengthening Global Position
This collaboration further solidifies Saudi Arabia's position as a global hub for esports. The Kingdom has recently hosted various international championships, building on its reputation in the esports arena. The partnership aims to enhance this status by bringing more prestigious events to Saudi Arabia.
The initiative aligns with broader objectives to integrate traditional sports values with modern gaming culture. By hosting these games, Saudi Arabia aims to bridge generational gaps and foster a deeper appreciation for both traditional and digital sports among its youth.
This strategic move is expected to attract significant international attention and participation, further boosting Saudi Arabia's profile on the global esports stage. It also reflects the Kingdom's commitment to diversifying its entertainment and sports sectors.
The NGSC session concluded with optimism about the future of esports in Saudi Arabia. Participants expressed confidence that these initiatives would pave the way for more significant developments in both traditional and digital sports within the Kingdom.
