Saudi Arabia Champions Clean Energy With Significant Investments In Climate Mitigation

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Member of the Cabinet, and Envoy for Climate Affairs, Adel Al-Jubeir, participated in a dialogue session at the FII PRIORITY Rio de Janeiro Summit. Organised by the Future Investment Initiative (FII) Institute, the event took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. During the session, Al-Jubeir highlighted Saudi Arabia's extensive efforts in energy development.

Al-Jubeir emphasised Saudi Arabia's ambition to become one of the world's largest energy suppliers across all forms, including clean, renewable, and traditional energy. He noted that petroleum would continue to be part of the energy mix for several decades. The focus, he said, should be on producing energy efficiently from various sources to preserve natural resources.

Saudi Leads in Clean Energy Drive

Saudi Arabia is one of the largest investors in clean energy, with significant projects aimed at mitigating climate change effects. These initiatives include a comprehensive waste recycling program and clean and renewable energy projects. Notably, one of the world's largest hydrogen projects is being established in NEOM in northern Saudi Arabia.

Al-Jubeir also discussed Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to improve the quality of life, empower youth, and attract investments to achieve stability and growth. He stressed the importance of international cooperation and communication to address global challenges, including those related to climate change.

The minister highlighted Saudi Arabia's strategic location among three continents and its proximity to vital waterways. This geographical advantage enhances its role as a significant player in energy markets and a global investor. He also mentioned the Middle East Green Initiative as a key effort to promote international cooperation on climate issues.

Al-Jubeir underlined the Kingdom's commitment to intensifying communication and convergence with other nations. This approach aims to enhance cooperation and stability while addressing various challenges. He reiterated that Saudi Arabia's efforts are geared towards achieving long-term sustainability and prosperity.

The dialogue session at the FII PRIORITY Rio de Janeiro Summit provided a platform for discussing these critical issues. Al-Jubeir's participation underscored Saudi Arabia's proactive stance on energy development and climate change mitigation.
