The Kingdom is committed to addressing water challenges and ensuring water security both regionally and internationally. This commitment was highlighted by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's 2023 announcement of the Global Water Organization, headquartered in Riyadh.

The establishment of the Global Water Organization underscores Saudi Arabia's leadership in water management. The organization's charter signing, with broad international participation, emphasized its role in promoting a sustainable water future. Membership provides strategic opportunities to influence global policies, access funding for projects, and share best practices worldwide.

Saudi Arabia Leads in Water Security Innovations

Saudi Arabia's launch of the Global Water Organization and hosting of the charter signing ceremony reflect its proactive role in initiating major global events. These efforts build on recent achievements across the water supply chain, including developing innovative solutions and championing environmental sustainability. The Kingdom has provided over $6 billion for water and sanitation projects across four continents.

The Kingdom's ambition to advance the global water sector is evident through its hosting of significant international events. Saudi Arabia will host the 2026 World Congress on Desalination and Water Re-Use Solutions, showcasing its status as the largest producer of desalinated water. Additionally, it will host the 2027 World Water Forum, a premier platform for discussing water issues and cooperation.

Under Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia has adopted a national strategy to enhance water management. This strategy addresses challenges like limited non-renewable groundwater, high demand across sectors, and scarce renewable resources. By employing advanced technologies, Saudi Arabia aims to secure water resources and conserve groundwater for future generations.

The One Water Summit further demonstrates Saudi Arabia's commitment to global collaboration. Co-chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman alongside leaders like French President Emmanuel Macron and World Bank President Ajay Banga, this summit highlights the Kingdom's dedication to sharing insights while learning from international experiences.
