Saudi Arabia Achieves Leading Rank In Global AI Strategy Index For 2024

The recent Stanford University International AI Index for 2024 has placed Saudi Arabia at the forefront of global efforts in developing a national strategy for Artificial Intelligence (AI). This prestigious ranking underscores the Kingdom's strategic commitment to integrating AI and data technologies into its national agenda. With the support of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) board of directors, Saudi Arabia is making significant strides in utilizing AI for societal advancement and fostering international cooperation in this dynamic field.

Saudi Arabia's notable position in the AI landscape is a testament to the success of Vision 2030, the Kingdom's ambitious national transformation initiative. AI is central to achieving approximately 70% of Vision 2030’s objectives, propelling the nation towards a leading role in the global AI sector. The establishment of SDAIA in 2019 marked a pivotal step in consolidating the country's efforts in data and AI management, organization, development, and implementation.

In 2023, Saudi Arabia was recognized as a leader in the Government Strategy Index for Artificial Intelligence by Tortoise Intelligence, which assesses over 60 countries. Additionally, the Stanford University International AI Index ranked Saudi Arabia second globally for public awareness about AI. These achievements highlight SDAIA’s comprehensive approach to enhancing Saudi Arabia's global standing in data and AI through capacity building, policy development, investment, innovation promotion, technical infrastructure enhancement, and prioritizing AI adoption in key areas aligned with national goals.

SDAIA's mission extends beyond mere technological advancement; it aims at modernizing and successfully implementing the national data and AI agenda.
