Saudi Arabia Sets Stage For First Esports World Cup With $60 Million Prize Pool

The Kingdom also announced it would host the first Olympic Esports Games in 2025.

In an interview with the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Turki Alfawzan, CEO of the Saudi Esports Federation, stated that the Olympic Esports Games will help achieve national strategy goals for gaming and electronic sports. He emphasised its role in promoting global innovation and showcasing the Kingdom's impact on the world stage.
The CEO of the Quality of Life Program Center, Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Bakr, highlighted that gaming and esports contribute to improving human life quality. He stressed their importance in diversifying options, supporting young people interested in this field through practice, entrepreneurship, startups, creativity, and innovation.
Alfawzan also noted that this achievement would support job creation and empower talent through competitive sporting events hosted by the Kingdom. The sector is expected to generate economic contributions of ASR 50 billion by 2030 and provide over 39,000 job opportunities related to gaming and esports.

Faisal bin Homran, CEO at the Esports World Cup Foundation, affirmed that Saudi Arabia has proven its leadership by hosting the largest event in esports. The opening week of the championship exceeded expectations and received positive feedback from enthusiasts worldwide.
"For esports fans worldwide, it has long been a dream to witness top clubs and players competing in the most famous games," he said. "The World Esports Cup has succeeded in realising this dream on Saudi soil." This enthusiasm prompted many professionals and enthusiasts to participate in the event.
