Saudi Arabia Champions Regional Aviation Security At 10th CASP-MID Meeting
The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) recently convened the 10th meeting of the Executive Steering Committee for the Cooperative Aviation Security Programme Middle East (CASP-MID) in Saudi Arabia. This significant gathering, led by CASP-MID Chairman and GACA's Executive Vice-President for Aviation Security, Mohammed Alfozan, saw the participation of key figures including the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Regional Director for the Middle East, Mohamed Abubaker Farea. The meeting was a platform for representatives from 10 countries, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, Sudan, Qatar, Yemen, and Syria, alongside members from ICAO and international supporting bodies.
During his opening address, Alfozan highlighted the meeting's aim to deliberate on pivotal issues and forge a collective vision for bolstering civil aviation security. He extended a warm welcome to Egypt and Qatar as new entrants to the program and underscored the critical role of collaboration in elevating aviation security standards both regionally and globally. The overarching ambition is to ensure a secure future for civil aviation.

The assembly acknowledged the strides made by CASP-MID in the past two years and lauded the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its prominent role in advancing regional aviation security. There was a unanimous expression of support for member states and endorsement of the program's initiatives designed to enhance security measures and safeguard civil aviation from illegal interventions.
This meeting underscores the commitment of CASP-MID member states and supporting organizations to fortify aviation security frameworks. Through collaborative efforts and shared vision, they aim to tackle challenges head-on and ensure the safety and security of civil aviation across the Middle East and beyond.
