Saudi Arabia Hosts Key Meeting To Bolster Regional Aviation Security

The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) in Saudi Arabia played host to the 10th meeting of the Executive Steering Committee of the Cooperative Aviation Security Programme Middle East (CASP-MID) yesterday. This significant gathering, chaired by CASP-MID Chairman and GACA's Executive Vice-President for Aviation Security, Mohammed Alfozan, saw the participation of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Regional Director for the Middle East Regional Office, Mohamed Abubaker Farea.

The meeting was a convergence point for representatives from CASP-MID member states, ICAO, and international supporting bodies. A total of 10 countries were represented at this event, including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Libya, Lebanon, Sudan, Qatar, Yemen, and Syria. This assembly underscored the collaborative efforts towards enhancing aviation security across the region and beyond.

Saudi Leads Aviation Security Summit

In his opening remarks, Alfozan highlighted the meeting's aim to address pivotal issues and forge a collective vision for civil aviation security. He extended a warm welcome to Egypt and Qatar as new members of the program and stressed the significance of cooperation in bolstering aviation security on a regional and global scale. The ultimate objective, as Alfozan noted, is to ensure a secure future for civil aviation.

The achievements of CASP-MID over the past two years were lauded by attendees, who also recognized the Kingdom's pivotal role in advancing regional aviation security. The support for member states and the program's initiatives designed to enhance security and protect civil aviation from unlawful acts was unanimously affirmed.

This meeting marks a step forward in the collective endeavor to safeguard civil aviation in the Middle East and beyond. The commitment demonstrated by CASP-MID member states and supporting organizations underscores a shared dedication to confronting challenges and ensuring the safety and security of air travel.
