Saudi Arabia’s Presidency Of The 14th Islamic Summit: Efforts And Achievements Highlighted

Jeddah, SPA – In a significant meeting of senior officials gearing up for the 15th session of the Islamic Summit Conference in Banjul, Gambia, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia showcased its extensive contributions and achievements under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) during its presidency since 2019. The meeting, which took place yesterday, highlighted Saudi Arabia's efforts in bolstering joint Islamic action across various sectors. The Kingdom's tenure as president commenced with the 14th session of the Islamic Summit Conference in Makkah, adopting the forward-looking theme "Hand in Hand toward the Future."

Marking the OIC's 50th anniversary, Saudi Arabia, under King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud's patronage, spearheaded initiatives and addressed critical issues on the organization's agenda. Amidst its presidency, the Kingdom navigated through the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, allocating SAR20 million to support an OIC initiative aimed at vaccinating healthcare workers and seniors in less developed member countries. This period underscored Saudi Arabia's commitment to serving the Islamic nation and its member states.

Throughout its leadership term, Saudi Arabia actively engaged in diplomacy to present and support the Islamic viewpoint on global platforms, particularly concerning political issues like the Palestinian cause. The Kingdom hosted significant events including the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh to address Israeli aggression against Palestinians and organized conferences focusing on women's empowerment in Islam and mediation. These efforts were part of a broader strategy to enhance the OIC's structure and operations, with Saudi Arabia funding studies for organizational development conducted by the Saudi Institute of Public Administration.

The Kingdom's proactive role in chairing numerous meetings across different levels underscores its dedication to advancing Islamic issues.
