Saudi Arabia And PIF Initiate Projects To Localize Renewable Energy Production

The Ministry of Energy has signed three new agreements to boost the localisation of renewable energy industries in Saudi Arabia. These agreements, made in collaboration with the Public Investment Fund, aim to support Saudi Vision 2030 by localising renewable energy components. The focus areas include wind turbines, solar cells and panels, and solar wafers and ingots.

An agreement was reached with "Envision Energy" and "Vision Industries Company" to produce wind turbines and their components locally. This joint project aims for a production capacity of up to 4 gigawatts annually. Another agreement was signed with "Jinko Solar" and "Vision Industries Company" to manufacture high-efficiency solar cells and panels, targeting a production capacity of up to 10 gigawatts per year.

Additionally, an agreement was made with a subsidiary of "TCL Zhonghuan Renewable Energy Technology" and "Vision Industries Company." This deal focuses on producing wafers and ingots used in solar panels, aiming for a production capacity of up to 20 gigawatts annually. These projects are designed to enhance local supply chains and meet the growing demand for renewable energy both domestically and internationally.

The agreements also aim to introduce the latest technologies within the renewable energy sector. They align with the National Renewable Energy Program's goal of localising 75% of renewable energy projects in Saudi Arabia by 2030. By achieving this target, the Kingdom aims to become a global hub for exporting renewable energy technologies.
