Saudi Industry Minister Visits JBS Facility In Jeddah To Boost Local Food Production

Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef has visited the JBS Jeddah facility, highlighting a SAR319 million expansion planned for the site. The move supports Saudi Vision 2030 goals to grow local food industries and reinforce the Kingdom’s halal food export role.

During the visit, Bandar Alkhorayef was accompanied by Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON) Eng. Majed Al-Argoubi. The programme focused on industrial cooperation, local production growth, and the wider ecosystem supporting food manufacturing in Saudi Arabia.

The JBS Jeddah facility expansion represents a capital investment estimated at SAR319 million. The company aims to lift production volumes, broaden food processing capabilities, and back national efforts to localise food industries while improving the Kingdom’s position in regional and global halal markets.

Officials at the JBS Jeddah facility explained that the enlarged operations are expected to strengthen local content, build more resilient supply chains, and increase the range of products manufactured within the Kingdom. These steps are aligned with national strategies that seek to reinforce food security and support regional export activity.

At the JBS Jeddah facility, Minister Bandar Alkhorayef reviewed key production stages and inspected different parts of the plant. Discussions covered manufacturing performance, supply chain arrangements, and the facility’s readiness for further expansion, with attention to operational efficiency and service to local and nearby markets.

The minister was received at the JBS Jeddah facility by Chief Executive Officer of JBS for the Middle East and North Africa William Barbosa, along with Regional Chief Operations Officer Adel Imam. The visit included exchanges on industrial collaboration and ways to enhance the food sector’s contribution to the national economy.

The presence of MODON at the JBS Jeddah facility visit underlined cooperation between government bodies and private investors. MODON’s involvement reflects ongoing efforts to improve industrial infrastructure, attract quality investments, and support growth in priority sectors, including food industries, across various Saudi regions.

According to information shared during the JBS Jeddah facility tour, the expansion is expected to create new job opportunities, encourage skills development, and support the localisation of specialised roles in food production. These outcomes are linked to broader Saudi Vision 2030 objectives for economic diversification and sustainable industrial growth.

The JBS Jeddah facility project therefore illustrates how targeted investments, regulatory support, and coordinated planning between MODON, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, and private companies can reinforce local production, promote food security, and serve both the Saudi market and neighbouring countries.
