Saudi Arabia Celebrates International Anti-Corruption Day, Showcases Achievements In Integrity And Transparency

Saudi Arabia has made notable strides in tackling corruption, acknowledging its negative impact on the economy, society, security, and culture. The International Anti-Corruption Day, observed every year on December 9, focuses this year on the theme "Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow's Integrity." This theme aims to increase awareness about the threats posed by corruption and stress the importance of both local and global cooperation to combat it.

The Kingdom has prioritized promoting integrity and transparency while fighting corruption. It views eliminating corruption as a national duty to protect public funds and national interests. In line with Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia aims to become a global leader in anti-corruption efforts and achieve some of the world's lowest corruption rates.

The Oversight and Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) organizes various events to educate the public about the harmful effects of corruption. These activities not only underscore Saudi Arabia's dedication to this cause but also signify progress toward fostering an ambitious society that values integrity. Nazaha recently hosted a virtual forum focusing on protecting whistleblowers to enhance efforts against financial and administrative corruption.

International experts and representatives from different government agencies participated in this forum. They discussed the necessity of safeguarding whistleblowers, which can significantly boost reporting of corrupt practices. Through such initiatives, Nazaha seeks to strengthen international partnerships, enhance cooperation, and facilitate sharing expertise in combating corruption.

The Riyadh Initiative for establishing a Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities (GlobE Network) showcases Saudi Arabia's leadership in fighting corruption globally. This initiative received official recognition from the UN during the 9th session of the Conference of States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption held in Egypt.

More than 55 countries and 92 anti-corruption agencies worldwide have joined this initiative. This reflects Saudi Arabia's commitment to leading global efforts against corruption by fostering collaboration among international law enforcement authorities.

As part of its ongoing commitment, Saudi Arabia continues to focus on addressing corruption's root causes through comprehensive strategies. By doing so, it aims to safeguard its economic stability and cultural integrity while ensuring a secure environment for its citizens.
