Saudi Arabia Achieves Significant Improvement In Global Open Data Ranking For 2024
Saudi Arabia has made notable progress in the 2024 Open Data Inventory (ODIN) report by Open Data Watch. The Kingdom now ranks 41st globally, a leap of 28 places since 2022, and has moved to 9th among G20 countries from 15th. This improvement underscores Saudi Arabia's dedication to making statistical data transparent and accessible, as evaluated by ODIN's metrics.
Open Data Watch commended Saudi Arabia for its remarkable advancements, highlighting a 16-point increase in data coverage and a 15-point rise in accessibility. Since 2017, the Kingdom's overall ODIN score has surged by 143%, showcasing its alignment with global best practices in open data management.

The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) is at the forefront of this national achievement. It leads the statistical sector by developing new products and launching indicators aligned with Saudi Vision 2030. GASTAT also enhances access to open data through official digital platforms, playing a crucial role in this progress.
