Saudi Arabia Hosts Urgent Arab-Islamic Summit To Address Ongoing Israeli Aggression In Palestinian And Lebanese Territories
The escalating violence in Palestinian and Lebanese territories has prompted urgent action from Arab and Islamic leaders. Their main goals are to stop the aggression, protect civilians, and support the affected populations. They also aim to unify their positions and pressure the international community to take decisive steps for peace and stability in the region.
Saudi Arabia, under King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, has called for an Arab-Islamic summit in response to Israeli aggression. The summit aims to address dangerous developments in Gaza and other Palestinian areas. It seeks solidarity among Arab and Islamic nations to confront these challenges effectively.

The Ministerial Committee formed during the Extraordinary Summit is actively engaging with global leaders. Their goal is to secure international support for a ceasefire, civilian protection, and restoration of essential services in Gaza. They stress the need for safe corridors for humanitarian aid delivery amidst ongoing Israeli military actions.
Committee members have condemned Israel's violations of international law, including denying basic rights like water and electricity access. They reaffirm their support for Palestinian self-determination and statehood based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. The committee urges the global community to act against Israel’s breaches of international laws.
On September 21, committee members met in Oslo with Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and foreign ministers from several European countries. They highlighted the need to hold Israeli forces accountable for violations against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
On September 22, they expressed gratitude to Spain for recognising Palestine as a state. This recognition aligns with their commitment to supporting Palestinian statehood and ensuring Palestinian rights are upheld globally.
Strategic Meetings at UN Assembly
Ahead of the United Nations General Assembly on September 23, committee members held a coordination meeting in New York. They strategised on intensifying efforts to advance Palestinian recognition during the assembly's high-level week.
An urgent ministerial meeting took place alongside this session on September 24. The focus was on addressing Israeli military attacks on Palestine and Lebanon. Discussions aimed at securing an immediate halt to aggression while protecting regional peace were central themes.
Summit Goals Amidst Ongoing Aggression
The summit tasked foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Türkiye, Indonesia, Nigeria, Palestine, among others, along with Arab League and OIC secretaries-general. Their mission is immediate international action to halt war on Gaza while pushing for a comprehensive peace process based on recognised principles.
The Extraordinary Summit scheduled tomorrow in Riyadh responds directly to brutal Israeli aggression affecting both Palestinian territories and Lebanon. This aggression threatens Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while risking broader regional conflict escalation.
