Saudi Crown Prince Support Enables Launch Of Hexagon, The World’s Largest Tier IV Government Data Center
The Saudi Data and AI Authority has launched the Hexagon Data Center, described as the world’s largest government data centre with a Tier IV rating, in a move that strengthens Saudi Arabia’s national digital infrastructure, supports data and AI projects, and aligns with Vision 2030 targets.
Dr. Esam Alwagait, Director of the National Information Center at the Saudi Data and AI Authority, said the project strengthens government digital services, supports data-based decisions across sectors, and is expected to improve quality of life in the Kingdom by supporting advanced digital solutions.

According to Dr. Esam Alwagait, the Hexagon Data Center is one of the Saudi Data and AI Authority’s largest strategic initiatives and is designed to reinforce national data sovereignty, host sensitive government information, and enable modern cloud and big data technologies for state entities and key national platforms.
The Hexagon facility holds a Tier IV classification, the highest global level for data centres, and is described as the world’s largest government data centre in this category, with significant capacity to process and store data while maintaining strict security and reliability standards for government operations.
Dr. Esam Alwagait said the steady progress of Saudi Arabia’s data and AI sector reflects the support and empowerment of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Saudi Data and AI Authority’s Board of Directors.
Dr. Esam Alwagait also expressed deep appreciation to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for their continuous attention to enhancing national capabilities that support the Kingdom’s status in data, AI, and other key fields.
He explained that the Saudi Data and AI Authority has carried out extensive work to build a clear strategy for data and AI, aimed at supporting the national digital ecosystem, coordinating efforts among government bodies, and helping position Saudi Arabia as a leading global hub for advanced data-driven technologies.
Dr. Esam Alwagait noted that the Hexagon Data Center shows strong cooperation among government entities, creating a unified and secure digital environment that improves the efficiency of public services, strengthens cybersecurity for national data, and supports accurate, data-based decisions at strategic and operational levels.
The strategic project is expected to support Saudi Arabia’s global competitiveness and economic position, create new jobs in technology and related sectors, and contribute to national GDP growth while helping government entities upgrade digital services in line with Vision 2030 ambitions for a diversified and advanced digital economy.
