Saudi Arabia To Captivate As Guest Of Honor At Seoul Book Fair 2024
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is preparing for a significant presence at the 66th Seoul International Book Fair (SIBF) 2024. Organised by the Korean Publishers Association, the event will be held from June 26 to 30 at the COEX Convention and Exhibition Center in Seoul. The Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission will lead Saudi Arabia's participation, featuring a pavilion rich with cultural exhibits.
A notable collaboration between the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission and Ithra has resulted in a Korean translation of the Mu'allaqat (The Hanging Odes), a collection of seven pre-Islamic Arabic poems. This translation will be unveiled at the fair, marking a significant moment in cultural exchange.

Additionally, the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL) project in Korea will be launched during SIBF. This initiative aims to promote Arabic language and literature in Korea, further strengthening cultural ties between the two nations.
Beyond literary contributions, Saudi Arabia will host a special dinner night, offering attendees a diverse culinary experience with dishes from various regions of the Kingdom. This event will also feature traditional Saudi performing arts, providing a comprehensive cultural experience.
Photographic Exhibition
The Saudi pavilion will include a photographic exhibition showcasing the Kingdom's history and culture. This display will feature images from past royal visits to Korea and highlight their impact on cultural and economic relations. Photographs of Korean presidents and officials visiting Saudi Arabia will also be on display, along with images celebrating the Year of the Camel and other aspects of Saudi civilization.
Participating Entities
Several prominent Saudi entities will join the commission at SIBF. These include the Heritage Commission, the Fashion Commission, the Film Commission, the Culinary Arts Commission, the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah), Ithra, the King Abdulaziz Public Library, the King Fahd National Library, the Saudi Publishing Association, and the Ministry of Investment.
The participation of these organisations underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to showcasing its rich cultural heritage and fostering international cultural exchange. The event promises to be a comprehensive display of Saudi culture and literature, offering visitors an immersive experience into the Kingdom's history and traditions.
