Saudi Arabia's KSrelief Highlights Global Water Initiatives On World Water Day
Saudi Arabia's King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) is acknowledged for its impactful role in global water initiatives. On World Water Day, March 22, KSrelief's efforts in tackling worldwide water issues are highlighted. The organisation has invested over $301 million in 105 water-related projects across 16 countries, focusing on creating safe environments and enhancing water security.
Yemen has received the most support from KSrelief, with 46 projects valued at more than $238 million. These initiatives include distributing drinking water, drilling wells, and improving access to sanitation services in healthcare facilities. Such efforts aim to provide healthier living conditions for the Yemeni population.

In Syria, KSrelief has implemented four projects to improve water security. These include emergency water, sanitation, and hygiene services for earthquake victims. Additionally, they have established water purification stations and rehabilitated water stations and waste management systems in Idlib Governorate.
Projects Across Africa
KSrelief's work extends to Sudan, where five crucial projects have been carried out. These include a significant water and sanitation project benefiting nearly six million people and the drilling of 33 medium-depth wells. In Mali, 250 shallow wells and 15 medium-depth wells have been drilled, while Ghana saw the construction of 52 wells.
Global Reach
The organisation's initiatives also reach Iraq, Somalia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Myanmar, and Niger. These projects aim to achieve water sustainability and improve security. This reflects Saudi Arabia’s dedication to addressing global water challenges for future generations.
Recently, KSrelief signed an agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for emergency intervention in Gaza Strip's water sector. This collaboration aims to benefit one million people by enhancing access to clean water and improving environmental sanitation.
The efforts of KSrelief have significantly reduced waterborne diseases in affected areas while supporting agriculture and livestock vital for local economies. Their comprehensive approach underscores a commitment to building a better world through sustainable solutions.
