Saudi Arabia Champions Global Health And Wellbeing At World Health Assembly
Minister of Health Fahd bin Abdurrahman Al-Jalajel led the high-level Saudi delegation at the 77th World Health Assembly of the World Health Organization (WHO) held at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva. In his address, the minister underscored the significance of sustained efforts and enhanced international cooperation to mitigate future health risks, aiming for "Health for All" and global wellbeing.
The Kingdom stressed the necessity of developing long-term solutions to bridge gaps in pandemic preparedness and response measures worldwide. Efforts to amend international health regulations and negotiate a pandemic treaty were highlighted, along with the importance of bolstering international collaboration to tackle future health threats.

Saudi Arabia emphasized the urgent need to address antimicrobial resistance, expressing anticipation for the United Nations' declaration on this critical issue. The Kingdom is set to host the fourth Global High-level Ministerial Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) on November 15-16 in Jeddah, aiming to foster global dialogue and action.
The Kingdom also drew attention to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, now in its eighth month. The speech highlighted alarming Israeli violations, with nearly 40,000 victims, predominantly children, women, and elderly individuals. The deteriorating healthcare services in Gaza were also a point of concern raised by Saudi Arabia.
The assembly provided a platform for Saudi Arabia to reiterate its commitment to global health initiatives and humanitarian efforts. The Kingdom's participation underscored its proactive stance on addressing pressing health challenges and fostering international cooperation.
