Saudi Arabia To Highlight Aviation Innovations At ICAO Symposium In Canada
Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), will join the International Civil Aviation Organization's (ICAO) first Advanced Air Mobility Symposium (AAM 2024). This event is scheduled to take place in Montreal, Canada, from September 9 to 12, 2024. The symposium will see participation from ICAO member countries and global aviation leaders.
During the symposium, GACA plans to present Saudi Arabia's national aviation strategy. This includes showcasing achievements and the Kingdom's dedication to advancing the aviation sector through cutting-edge technologies in advanced air mobility. The delegation will be led by Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, President of GACA.

The forum will also highlight strategic sector programs and initiatives. One key initiative is the launch of a roadmap for advanced air mobility. This roadmap has significantly accelerated the adoption of advanced air mobility technologies within Saudi Arabia.
GACA aims to discuss its efforts in providing safe and sustainable transportation. The authority is committed to eliminating carbon emissions and achieving net zero by 2060. This commitment aligns with Saudi Arabia's broader environmental goals.
Several successful trials in advanced air mobility will be presented at the forum. These include the first successful electric VTOL flight test in NEOM in June 2023 and the issuance of the world's first flying taxi license after a successful trial during the Hajj season last June.
Global Collaboration
GACA will also explore opportunities for collaboration with global partners at AAM 2024. The authority aims to work with international organisations to ensure consistency in advanced air mobility regulations worldwide.
The Kingdom's collaboration with ICAO, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will be highlighted. These partnerships are crucial for maintaining global standards in advanced air mobility.
Development of New Airports
The development of a new generation of airports is another significant focus for GACA. Notable projects include the Red Sea International Airport and NEOM Airport. These airports are part of Saudi Arabia's broader strategy to enhance its aviation infrastructure.
The symposium provides a platform for GACA to showcase these developments and discuss future plans with global aviation leaders. By participating in AAM 2024, Saudi Arabia aims to position itself as a leader in advanced air mobility technology.
This participation underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to innovation and sustainability in aviation. It also highlights the Kingdom's efforts to collaborate with international partners for mutual benefit.
