Saudi Arabia Furnishes Bangkok's Largest Mosque With High-Quality Carpets For Worshippers
On Monday, Saudi Arabia, through its Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, represented at the Saudi Embassy in Thailand, took a significant step by furnishing the Islamic Center Mosque of Bangkok with high-quality carpets. This generous gesture is part of a broader initiative to support and care for mosques worldwide, ensuring they are well-prepared for worshippers to perform their rituals in a setting of peace, tranquility, and devotion.
This effort to carpet the mosque, which stands as a key historical landmark within Bangkok's Islamic Center and can host up to 3,000 worshippers, underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering the Islamic faith and serving Muslims globally.
The Islamic Center in Thailand is not only a place of worship but also a pivotal institution for Islamic learning and fostering a deeper understanding of Islam among Muslims and the wider community. It offers numerous activities aimed at improving Muslims' quality of life and operates as a coordination hub. This hub facilitates collaboration between governmental Islamic organisations and other religious entities, contributing significantly to the development of Thai society. It encompasses various facilities, including halls, meeting rooms, and office spaces, for religious, social, and cultural engagements.
Water Avon Cuomo, Chairman of the Islamic Center Foundation, expressed his gratitude for the Kingdom's substantial support in carpeting the mosque, particularly noting the timing during the holy month when the mosque sees an increase in worshippers. He highlighted the Kingdom’s role, under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, in leading charitable efforts and initiatives that serve the Muslim community.
Avon’s praise extended to Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Sheikh, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, for his prompt response to the request for support, emphasising the mosque's significance as a beacon for Muslims in Bangkok. This project is part of the Ministry’s continuous efforts to advance Islamic work and promote a moderate approach to Islam.
