The History
The idea to celebrate Saudi Founding Day on February 22 originates from 300 years ago. The Saudi royal family first settled alongside Wadi Hanifah in the 15th century, founding the city of Diriyah in 1446.Later, the determination of Imam Muhammad bin Saud marked the establishment of the inaugural Saudi state in 1727. After the dissolution of the first Saudi State, Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Bin Muhammad Bin Saud managed to revive it in 1824, forming the second Saudi State, which endured until 1891. A decade later, in 1902, King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Faisal Al Saud successfully established the third Saudi state by consolidating it into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.The Founding Day commemorates the three centuries of the existence of the Saudi state, highlighting its rich history, cultural heritage, and devotion to the Imams, Kings, and citizens who serve the nation.
