Saudi Arabia Advances Expatriate Workforce Quality With Professional Verification

The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has concluded the initial phase of the "Professional Verification" service, part of the "Professional Certification" program. This initiative spans 128 countries and is executed in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs via a unified electronic platform overseen by the ministry.

According to the ministry, this measure aligns with Cabinet Resolution No. 195. It aims to ensure that expatriate workers entering Saudi Arabia possess authentic academic qualifications and necessary practical experience and skills required by the Saudi labour market.

The service primarily targets high-skilled professions, verifying that academic qualifications match educational levels and fields according to approved standards like the Unified Saudi Classification of Professions and the Unified Saudi Classification of Educational Levels and Specialties. This process is fully automated, offering simplified and swift procedures through a unified platform for professional verification.

The ministry detailed that it is progressing with the implementation plan for "professional verification," aiming to extend coverage to 160 countries worldwide for all professions, including engineering and health sectors, in coordination with relevant government agencies.

"Professional verification" plays a crucial role in preventing unqualified expatriate workers from entering the labour market. It also enhances the quality of qualifications and skills data for expatriate workers. Through this service, the Ministry seeks to regulate the labour market, improve job quality, enhance services, and boost productivity.

This initiative focuses on ensuring that expatriate workers have genuine academic credentials and practical experience needed by the Saudi labour market. The service verifies compatibility between academic qualifications and educational levels based on approved standards such as the Unified Saudi Classification of Professions.
