Saudi Arabia Extends Makkah Route Initiative To Ankara For Hajj Pilgrims

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has expanded its Makkah Route Initiative, introducing a new lounge at the Esenboga International Airport in Ankara, marking it as the second location in Türkiye to facilitate this innovative service. The initiative, under the auspices of the Saudi Ambassador to Türkiye Fahd bin Asaad Abu Al-Nasr, Ankara Governor Vasip Sahin, and Vice President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Hilmi Karsli, aims to streamline the Hajj journey for pilgrims.

At the heart of the Makkah Route Initiative is the commitment to enhancing the pilgrimage experience for those visiting the Kingdom. This is achieved through a series of high-quality services that begin in the pilgrims' home countries. Among these services are the issuance of an electronic Hajj visa, capturing biometric data, and ensuring all necessary procedures are completed with ease before departure.

The General Directorate of Passports plays a crucial role in this process, verifying health requirements are met to ensure a safe and smooth entry into Saudi Arabia. Additionally, a sophisticated luggage management system ensures that pilgrims' belongings are coded and sorted according to their transportation and accommodation arrangements in Makkah and Madinah. This meticulous organization allows pilgrims to proceed directly to their residences upon arrival, with their luggage delivered separately by partner agencies.

This initiative is not just about logistical efficiency; it is a cornerstone of the Pilgrim Experience Program, which falls under the ambit of the Ministry of Interior's contributions towards realizing Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030. Now in its sixth year, the Makkah Route Initiative is a collaborative effort involving multiple ministries and agencies including foreign affairs, health, Hajj and Umrah, media, as well as the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority, and the Saudi Data and AI Authority.

The overarching goal is to simplify and enhance every aspect of the Hajj journey, making it more accessible and enjoyable for pilgrims from around the world. By integrating advanced services and ensuring seamless procedures, Saudi Arabia reaffirms its dedication to providing an exceptional spiritual experience for all visitors.
