Saudi Arabia Advances Sports Sector To Improve National Quality Of Life

The Quality of Life Program in Saudi Arabia aims to elevate the nation's sports sector through high-quality initiatives by the Ministry of Sports and other institutions. This effort aligns with Saudi Vision 2030, focusing on increasing community sports activities and achieving excellence in various sports at regional and global levels.

In 2023, Saudi Arabia hosted several international sports events, including the Italian Super Cup featuring Inter Milan, Napoli, Lazio, and Fiorentina. The Spanish Super Cup also garnered extensive media coverage, reaching over 3.8 billion people across 78 countries. These events underscore the Kingdom's commitment to becoming a premier destination for global sports championships.

The "Vital Places" initiative saw the organization of numerous sports events and races. Notably, the first Riyadh International Marathon attracted over 15,000 participants from around the globe. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles among residents.

The closed Sports Dome in Dammam, known as the Saudi Sports for All Federation Dome (SFA), was inaugurated in 2023. It offers over 15 different sports activities and has more than 43,100 registered beneficiaries. This facility aims to provide diverse sporting opportunities for the community.

Neighborhood Clubs educational recreational centers have also seen significant growth. In 2023, these clubs registered over 35,000 students across 45 locations in the Kingdom. Membership in these clubs rose to 15,000 members, reflecting increased interest in local sports activities.

Programs for Older Adults

The SFA launched the "Seniors Project" in collaboration with Newcastle United Foundation. This program targets older adults to increase their physical activity levels and promote healthier lifestyles. Over 1,800 participants have joined this initiative, highlighting its success in engaging this demographic.

To further solidify its position as a leading host for international sports events, Saudi Arabia organized the 2023 AlUla Tour. This event featured 112 cyclists from 16 countries, showcasing the Kingdom's capability to host large-scale sporting competitions.

The Quality of Life Program continues to make strides in enhancing the sports sector within Saudi Arabia. Through various initiatives and international events, it aims to foster a culture of physical activity and achieve excellence in sports on a global stage.
