Saudi Arabia And Egypt Enhance Industrial Cooperation In Food Manufacturing And Pharmaceuticals

Eng. Khalil bin Salamah, Deputy Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources for Industry Affairs, recently engaged in discussions with Eng. Mohamed El-Sewedy, Chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), and leaders from major private sector companies. The talks aimed to enhance industrial cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Egypt, focusing on food manufacturing and biopharmaceutical technology opportunities.

Bin Salamah accompanied Minister Bandar Alkhorayef on an official visit to Egypt. During his meeting with El-Sewedy, they explored industrial investment opportunities in both countries. Discussions centred on strengthening ties in the industrial sector, highlighting potential areas for collaboration.

Saudi Arabia and Egypt Boost Industrial Ties

In a meeting with Minapharm officials, Bin Salamah discussed localising pharmaceutical industries in Saudi Arabia. Minapharm's expertise in integrated biomanufacturing processes was seen as a valuable asset. Talks also included potential cooperation with Eva Pharma in generic pharmaceuticals and veterinary vaccines.

Further discussions took place with the chairman of Medical Union Pharmaceuticals. They explored industrial integration opportunities within the pharmaceutical and API sectors at the Ain Sokhna industrial hub. These discussions aimed to enhance collaboration and leverage existing capabilities.

Bin Salamah visited the Beyti factory, a subsidiary of Almarai, underscoring its role in bolstering economic ties between Saudi Arabia and Egypt. He examined Almarai's current investments in Egypt's market and its contribution to the food industry sector. The potential for exporting products to African markets from its Egyptian base was also considered.

Additionally, Bin Salamah met with the chairman of GALINA, exploring investment opportunities within Saudi Arabia. The meeting featured a presentation on the National Industrial Strategy (NIS) objectives, highlighting growth prospects for packaged and frozen fruits and vegetables in Saudi Arabia.

Technological Advancements

The presentation emphasized using Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies to boost productivity within these sectors. This approach aims to modernise processes and increase efficiency across various industries.

The series of meetings highlighted mutual interests between Saudi Arabia and Egypt in enhancing industrial cooperation. By leveraging each other's strengths, both nations aim to foster growth and development across key sectors.
