Saudi Arabia Showcases Camel Sector Development At Italy's International Exhibition
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is set to highlight its international efforts in developing the camel sector through the Saudi Exhibition for the International Year of Camelids (IYC) 2024. This event will take place from June 10 to 14, coinciding with the Council of the General Assembly of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, Italy.
Saudi Arabia's participation in the FAO's Council meeting is attributed to its co-chairmanship of the International Year of Camelids 2024, in collaboration with the Group of Latin America and the Caribbean (GRULAC), represented by Bolivia. The exhibition aims to showcase locally manufactured camel products, their role in achieving food security, and their various medical benefits.

The Saudi delegation at the FAO General Assembly meetings will be led by Eng. Ahmed bin Saleh Al-Eyada, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture for Agriculture and Chairman of the Steering Committee for the International Year of Camelids 2024. Several undersecretaries and ministry officials serving on the committee will also be part of this delegation.
Over 13 government agencies and private sector companies will participate in the exhibition. They will present their efforts in developing the camel sector and display food, medical, and cosmetic products derived from camels. This initiative underscores the significant cultural and social value of camels in Saudi societies.
