Saudi Arabia's Prince Abdulaziz Leads Delegation At Global Road Safety Conference In Morocco

Saudi Arabia's delegation, led by Minister of Interior Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, attended the Fourth Global Ministerial Conference on Road Safety. The event was held under the patronage of Moroccan King Mohammed VI. In his speech, Prince Abdulaziz conveyed greetings from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the attendees.

Prince Abdulaziz highlighted Saudi Arabia's commitment to road safety as a public health, security, and economic priority. He noted that over 1.3 million people die annually in road accidents worldwide, with millions more suffering serious injuries. These injuries hinder personal and national development.

The Kingdom is determined to address road safety challenges through Saudi Vision 2030. This initiative aligns with global road safety goals and the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030. Prince Abdulaziz emphasized the importance of innovation in tackling these issues.

He acknowledged Morocco's efforts in organizing the conference aimed at enhancing cooperation in road safety. The goal is to save lives and overcome obstacles that impede progress in this critical area.

Technology plays a crucial role in improving road safety, according to Prince Abdulaziz. Saudi Arabia plans to use AI-powered traffic management systems and IoT solutions to reduce fatalities and injuries on roads, improve urban mobility, and ensure safer roads nationwide.

A ministerial-level committee was established to enhance traffic affairs under the guidance of Saudi leadership. This initiative has resulted in a significant reduction of over 50% in traffic accident fatalities over the past seven years.

Prince Abdulaziz stressed the need for an accurate mechanism to track injuries from road accidents. This data will help reduce such incidents in the future by providing valuable insights into their causes and effects.
