Saudi Arabia's AlUla Summit Explores The Future Of Museums With Global Leaders

During the AlUla Future Culture Summit, Assistant Minister of Culture Rakan bin Ibrahim Altouq and Centre Pompidou President Laurent Le Bon engaged in a fireside chat that delved into the evolving landscape of museums and cultural institutions. The summit, a collaborative effort between the Royal Commission for AlUla and the Ministry of Culture, aims to explore avenues for fostering significant cultural topics to drive societal progress and positive change.

The event attracted approximately 150 attendees, including global leaders, decision-makers, entrepreneurs, and artists. The discussion, titled "The Future of Museums: Thinking Outside the White Cube," took place on the second day of the forum and highlighted the transformative developments occurring within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

AlUla Summit Discusses Museums' Future

Altouq expressed his enthusiasm for hosting an international audience to witness Saudi Arabia's remarkable transformation and development. He emphasized the summit's role in uniting cultural leaders and change-makers who believe in the power of culture and arts to advance societies. He also acknowledged the vision and guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, along with Minister of Culture Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan Al Saud, as pivotal to these achievements.

The Assistant Minister spotlighted significant cultural milestones, such as the Saudi National Orchestra and Choir’s performances at New York City's Metropolitan Opera House and the contribution of the Red Sea International Film Festival to the Kingdom’s cinematic culture. Furthermore, he announced that leading contemporary artist Manal Al-Dowayan will represent Saudi Arabia at the prestigious Venice Biennale.

Altouq underscored the Kingdom's growing cultural scene as a platform for regional and global cultural exchange. He stressed the importance of fostering communication and understanding between societies to address global social and economic challenges. The Assistant Minister called for leveraging advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), heritage, traditions, and history to build a future that enhances global creativity and skills.
