Saudi Arabia Showcases Cultural Transformation At Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2025
Saudi Arabia is participating in the 34th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), organised by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, from 26th April to 5th May 2025. The theme for this year is ‘Knowledge Illuminates Our Community’. This involvement highlights Saudi Arabia's dedication to enhancing its cultural and intellectual influence both regionally and globally.
The Saudi pavilion at ADIBF offers a glimpse into the Kingdom’s evolving landscape in literature, publishing, and translation. It showcases a modern approach to book production with contributions from significant cultural and educational bodies. These include the Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Education, King Fahd National Library, King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives, King Saud University, Umm Al-Qura University, King Faisal University, and the King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex.

A variety of activities are planned within the pavilion, such as workshops, panel discussions, book signings, and a broad array of publications covering history, literature, science, and Islamic studies. These events aim to engage visitors and exhibitors alike in meaningful cultural exchanges.
Bassam Al-Bassam, General Manager of Publishing at the Saudi Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, spoke to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) about this year's participation. He noted that it reflects the strong cultural connections between Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Al-Bassam emphasised Saudi Arabia's commitment to supporting the publishing industry and promoting translation as a means of expanding cultural exchange.
"We were keen to participate this year with a strong institutional identity by collaborating with key government entities involved in the book industry," Al-Bassam stated. "We’ve developed a diverse cultural programme that reflects the Kingdom’s heritage and civilisation. The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair is a distinguished platform that blends tradition with openness, aligning perfectly with our vision to amplify Saudi presence on the global cultural stage."
The Kingdom’s involvement in ADIBF underscores its rapidly changing cultural scene. It highlights significant advancements in literature, publishing, and translation while reinforcing Saudi Arabia's status as a prominent cultural hub. This participation contributes to global cultural dialogue and knowledge exchange.
Saudi Arabia's engagement at ADIBF not only showcases its literary achievements but also strengthens its position as a leading destination for cultural dialogue. By participating actively in such international platforms, Saudi Arabia continues to foster intellectual growth and collaboration across borders.
