Saudi Arabia Celebrates 30 Years Of Pioneering Conjoined Twins Programme With International Conference

Under the patronage of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) will host an international conference on November 24-25, 2024. This event marks the 30th anniversary of the Saudi Conjoined Twins Programme.

The conference will coincide with World Conjoined Twins Day, recently recognised by the United Nations through Saudi Arabia's initiative. It will feature ministers, leaders, and global experts in conjoined twin separation and medical humanitarian fields.

Saudi's 30-Year Milestone in Twins Separation

This unique International Conference on Conjoined Twins will highlight Saudi Arabia's pioneering efforts in this field. The Saudi Conjoined Twins Program began in 1990 and has since achieved 61 successful separation surgeries and evaluated 139 cases from 26 countries.

The conference will include various sessions such as ministerial, scientific, and humanitarian discussions. Workshops and exhibitions dedicated to children with special needs worldwide will also be part of the event.

On the sidelines of the conference, several agreements with international organisations concerned with children's welfare are planned. These agreements align with Saudi Arabia's ongoing humanitarian efforts to support vulnerable groups, especially children.

The event aims to showcase Saudi Arabia's extensive experience in conjoined twin separation. The Kingdom holds the largest experience globally in this specialised medical field.

Enriching Medical and Humanitarian Knowledge

The conference is expected to issue significant recommendations that will enrich medical and humanitarian libraries. These recommendations will serve as valuable references for specialists and those interested in conjoined twin separation and humanitarian work.

Ministerial sessions, specialised scientific discussions, humanitarian sessions, workshops, and exhibitions will address various aspects related to conjoined twins. The focus will be on both medical advancements and the humanitarian aspects of caring for these children.

This event underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to advancing medical knowledge and providing humanitarian aid. It highlights the Kingdom's leadership role in addressing complex medical challenges while supporting vulnerable populations worldwide.
