Saudi Arabia Elevates Its Fight Against Human Trafficking To Uphold Human Dignity
Dr. Hala bint Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, President of the Human Rights Commission and Chair of the Committee for Combating Trafficking in Persons, stressed that human trafficking is a severe violation of human rights. She called for collective efforts to combat this crime and raise awareness about its dangers and impact on society. Dr. Al-Tuwaijri made these remarks during the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2024.
Dr. Al-Tuwaijri highlighted Saudi Arabia's dedication to fighting human trafficking under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and HRH the Crown Prince. This commitment aligns with Vision 2030, aiming to preserve human dignity and rights. The kingdom has enacted legislative measures like the Anti-Human Trafficking Crimes Law and formed various committees to address this issue.

The kingdom has also adopted national action plans and established a national referral mechanism for victims. Additionally, an independent prosecution office and dedicated judicial departments have been set up to handle human trafficking cases more effectively.
Saudi Arabia has introduced numerous programs, initiatives, and services in the field of combating human trafficking. The kingdom has also strengthened regional and international cooperation to enhance its efforts against this crime. Dr. Al-Tuwaijri noted that these measures have improved Saudi Arabia's standing in international anti-trafficking indicators.
Dr. Al-Tuwaijri emphasized that everyone needs to participate in confronting human trafficking and aiding its victims. She stated, "Raising awareness of its dangers and impact on individuals and society is crucial." This collective effort is essential for effectively combating human trafficking.
Focus on Victims' Rights
The theme for World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2024 is "Leave No Child Behind in the Fight Against Human Trafficking." Dr. Al-Tuwaijri underscored the importance of focusing on victims' rights and ensuring their protection. She concluded by reaffirming Saudi Arabia's commitment to preventing, prosecuting, protecting, and assisting victims while engaging in regional and international efforts.
Saudi Arabia's comprehensive approach includes legislative measures, national action plans, victim referral mechanisms, independent prosecution offices, judicial departments, programs, initiatives, services, and international cooperation. These efforts collectively aim to combat human trafficking effectively.
The kingdom's actions reflect a consistent focus on putting people first and ensuring their rights are protected. Dr. Al-Tuwaijri emphasized that Saudi Arabia remains aware of the severity of human trafficking and is committed to addressing it through various means.
