Saudi Arabia Calls For Immediate Action To Halt Violations Against Palestinians At UN Human Rights Council

Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned the violations against Palestinians, particularly the killing of civilians in Gaza, many of whom are women and children. Asya Baakdah, Head of the Human Rights Section at Saudi Arabia's UN Mission in Geneva, expressed this stance during a UN Human Rights Council meeting. She reiterated the Kingdom's firm rejection of the ongoing tragic situation and stressed the urgent need for resolution.

Baakdah highlighted Saudi Arabia's role in hosting the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit. This summit resulted in resolutions that reflect the collective will of Arab and Islamic nations. The summit called for an immediate end to bloodshed, unrestricted humanitarian aid access, and support for Palestinians' legitimate aspirations to reclaim their territories and establish an independent state.

Saudi Arabia Urges Action on Palestinian Violations

The diplomat praised the UN General Assembly's resolution supporting Palestine's eligibility for full UN membership. She also acknowledged Norway, Spain, Ireland, Slovenia, and Armenia for recognising Palestine as a state. Baakdah urged other countries to follow suit with bilateral recognition to further support Palestinian statehood.

Saudi Arabia is committed to supporting an independent Palestinian state. In collaboration with partners from the Ministerial Committee formed by the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit on Gaza developments, along with Norway and the European Union, Saudi Arabia initiated a global alliance advocating for a two-state solution.

The Kingdom is urging all parties to join this initiative aimed at implementing a two-state solution. This call reflects Saudi Arabia's dedication to fostering international cooperation towards achieving peace and stability in the region.

Saudi Arabia recognises its collective duty to actively support Palestine's independence efforts. The Kingdom continues to work closely with international partners to push forward initiatives that align with these goals.

The situation remains critical as Saudi Arabia emphasises its commitment to ending violence and ensuring humanitarian aid reaches those in need. The Kingdom remains steadfast in its efforts to support Palestinians' rights and aspirations on the global stage.
