Saudi Arabia, Brazil Embark On Joint Venture For Peaceful Space Exploration

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the Saudi Space Agency (SSA), and Brazil, represented by the Brazilian Space Agency, have formalised an agreement to enhance their cooperation in space exploration and peaceful space utilisation. This agreement was signed during SSA Chief Executive Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Altamimi's visit to Brazil for the fifth Space Economy Leaders Meeting (SELM) from September 11 to 13 in Foz do Iguacu.

The SELM event gathers leaders from G20 space agencies and key executives from Brazilian space companies. Dr. Altamimi highlighted that the support from His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Supreme Space Council, underscores Saudi Arabia's ambition to lead in the global space economy. The sector is projected to reach $2 trillion by 2035.

New Saudi-Brazil Space Exploration Deal

The agreement between Saudi Arabia and Brazil covers various areas of space-related cooperation. These include fundamental space science research, remote sensing, space communications technologies, space biology, weather monitoring, satellite research and development, and ground infrastructure for space systems.
