Saudi Arabia Promotes Eco-Tourism And Conservation At ADIHEX 2024

Saudi Arabia is showcasing its commitment to eco-tourism at the 21st Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX), which began yesterday and will continue until 8th September, 2024, at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. The Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve Development Authority (ITBA) is participating to promote its vision of transforming the reserve into a global destination known for its heritage and natural beauty.

The ITBA pavilion will highlight premier eco-tourism programs such as the North Reserve, Saudi Arabia's first sustainable hunting reserve, and the Hassaki Caravans. These initiatives offer unique experiences amidst stunning landscapes. Visitors can also learn about camping activities and stargazing in the Dark Sky area.

Eco-Tourism Focus at ADIHEX 2024

Over the nine-day event, ITBA aims to share its success in restoring ecological balance and preserving biodiversity. The Authority will present an interactive experience that delves into Saudi Arabia's cultural heritage, showcasing traditional arts and crafts and the authenticity of the local community.

Through its participation in ADIHEX, ITBA seeks to promote eco-tourism, preserve the environment, and engage the local community. The goal is to position the reserve as a leading eco-tourism destination while highlighting efforts in environmental protection and resource conservation. Additionally, ITBA focuses on enhancing local community involvement in environmental initiatives to raise awareness about biodiversity conservation.

Mohammed Al-Shaalan, CEO of The Development Authority of The Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Royal Reserve, stated that this marks their third consecutive participation in ADIHEX. He noted it as an opportunity to celebrate cultural heritage and stay updated with developments amid growing interest in traditional hobbies and environmental sustainability.

Wildlife Preservation

The Saudi National Center for Wildlife (NCW) is also participating in ADIHEX to emphasise wildlife preservation. NCW's interactive exhibit highlights Saudi Arabia's efforts in fishing regulation and aims to make 30 percent of the Kingdom’s area protected by 2030.

The Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve spans 91,500 square kilometres, making it the second-largest royal reserve. It hosts over 138 wildlife species and more than 179 plant species. Known for its natural beauty, environmental diversity, heritage sites, and historical landmarks, it stands out as a significant conservation area.

The exhibition provides a platform for both ITBA and NCW to showcase their dedication to environmental sustainability. By engaging visitors through interactive exhibits and educational programs, they aim to foster a deeper understanding of conservation efforts within Saudi Arabia.

The event underscores Saudi Arabia's commitment to balancing heritage preservation with modern eco-tourism practices. Through these initiatives, both organisations strive to achieve sustainable development while protecting natural resources for future generations.
