Saudi Arabia And Arab League Strongly Condemn Israeli Knesset's Approval Of Sovereignty Laws Over Occupied West Bank

Several nations, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Indonesia, have strongly condemned the Israeli Knesset's approval of draft laws aimed at imposing "Israeli sovereignty" over the occupied West Bank and illegal settlements. These actions are seen as clear violations of international law and United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, which opposes Israeli measures altering the demographic and legal status of Palestinian territories since 1967.

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has reaffirmed Israel's obligations under international humanitarian law. This includes ensuring essential supplies for the population in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT), including Gaza. The ICJ also highlighted Israel's duty to facilitate relief efforts through entities like the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).

Arab League Condemns Israeli Knesset's Actions

The involved countries urge the global community to take responsibility by pressuring Israel to halt its unilateral actions. They stress that these measures threaten peace and stability in the region. The call is for Israel to respect Palestinian rights to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The ICJ also addressed Israel's past actions, such as blocking aid into Gaza and imposing intolerable living conditions. It reiterated the prohibition on using starvation as a tactic and condemned mass forcible transfers or deportations. These actions violate international norms and exacerbate tensions in the region.

The advisory opinion from October 2025 by the ICJ further emphasized Israel's responsibilities in relation to OPT. It confirmed that Israel must adhere to international law by ensuring humanitarian needs are met and facilitating relief efforts. The opinion also reinforced that any territorial claims over East Jerusalem are invalid according to Security Council declarations.

These nations collectively warn against Israel’s continued illegal policies. They emphasize that such actions undermine peace efforts and violate Palestinian rights. The statement calls for a comprehensive peace solution that respects Palestinian sovereignty and ensures regional security.

The League of Arab States, along with other organizations, supports these views. They highlight that only a just resolution can lead to lasting peace in the Middle East. The emphasis remains on diplomatic solutions respecting international laws and agreements.
